Laterville or Winnerville - Where do you live?

Hi and welcome to Philosopher Insights. My name is Herb Lamba.   Today. I wanted to share an insight from 'Surrounded by Setbacks' by Thomas Erikson - and it's the difference between Laterville , living in Laterville, and living in Winnerville.

Let's talk about the people living in Laterville, which is the majority of people.  If you're the person that has an idea or a project or a goal, but you're always waiting until later because you can't get yourself to believe that this is the right time.  It's not the right time because the wrong government may be in office.   It's not the right time because it's winter, I'd rather start this in the summer - as an example when you talk about an exercise program.

It's a project, but I need a new computer, so I'll start that later when I get the new computer- that kind of thing.  You are living in Laterville and here's the interesting thing about Laterville, it's a Metropolis. There are millions of people in Laterville. If you want to live in Laterville, you're going to be around millions of people who are all very nonchalant, very relaxed, lots of time, they'll get to that when they get to that - no urgency.  You're going to be surrounded by so many people who are enjoying Laterville.   if you want to sell your house in Laterville and you want to move to Winnerville, you're not going to wait long because there's a lot of people dying to get into Laterville. - they'd like to be a part of this. - they choose to be nonchalant, no aggression, no passion, no pressure, no push - nothing going on to move them forward. - they don't have a vision.

They don't even want to think about a vision. - they're happy in Laterville.   Now let's look at Winnerville. Winnerville is not a Metropolis like Laterville. There's lots of land in Winnerville because very few people are willing to step out and go after a vision.

They have the vision planted inside them, but there's a difference between the people in Laterville and the people in Winnerville.   The people in Winnerville are willing to go after the vision. They're willing to take some risks. They're willing to put in the work and they're willing to make the sacrifice to reach out and achieve that vision or that goal or that purpose.

If you want to be among the people in winnerville, then you're going to associate yourself with other people who are all trying to pursue, who are all trying to reach, who are all trying to strive. And it just makes you a lot better. The people in Winnerville are way happier than the people in Laterville because the people in Laterville are putting things off.   It may feel happy at the moment because there's no stress or pressure.

But the people in Winnerville are the ones that wake up excited every morning. They're the ones who are going somewhere, not just waking up and lazing around like those in Laterville. That's the difference between Laterville and Winnerville. Now, the question is, where do you choose to live?
